Bar Code Scanners

Wands
Low cost contact type scanner that is best suited for scanning flat clean surfaces. One scan, one read. Not recommended for curved or oddly shaped packages, nor in locations where dirt or dust exists.

CCD Scanners
These scanners use diodes to read barcodes at a scan rate of 40 to 60 reads per second. Effective for barcodes up to 3.5" wide. They come in two basic types, Touch CCD Scanners and Long Range CCD Scanners, up to 6 - 7 inches.

Laser Scanners
Laser Scanners can read barcodes at a scan rate of 40 to 100 reads per second at ranges from a few inches to 10 feet or more. They are the most effective scanner for use with not only flat and curved packages, but also for oddly shaped packages.

Barcode Imagers
Imagers are technically similar to CCD scanners but use LEDs to flood the bar code with light. They combine the flexibility to read 2 dimensional symbologies such as the PDF417 and Maxicode, along with standard linear (1D) type barcodes. The versatile reading capability of barcode imagers allows fast and easy decoding for retail, office and light industrial applications. Very effective reader for use with labels on flat, rough, curved packages and even damaged barcodes.

ID Tech Omni Slot Reader

Heavy-duty Omni swipe reader reads barcode and/or magnetic stripe media. Its die cast metal base, stainless steel wear plate, and impact-resistant housing make Omni ideal for the growing market of self-service and un-attended applications. The Omni reads up to three tracks of magnetic information with a single swipe in either direction. Omni reads most bar code symbologies; both visible or infrared bar code data and/or MagStripe data, both in a single swipe. It has a beeper and three-color LED indicator to signal a successful read.
